The Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC) and the Industrial Court of Queensland deal with employment disputes in the Queensland state system. Both sit at Level 21, Central Plaza 2, 66 Eagle Street, Brisbane, and share one registry and one hearing list. This page shows that list with times, rooms, matter numbers, the type of listing and the parties.
What the QIRC and the Industrial Court hear
The Commission works under the Industrial Relations Act 2016. Its jurisdiction covers Queensland state and local government employees and some private sector employers that remain in the state system. Typical matters include:
- unfair dismissal and reinstatement applications
- wage and underpayment claims
- making and interpreting awards and certified agreements
- industrial disputes resolved by conciliation and, if needed, arbitration
- industrial action and bargaining
- appeals about workers' compensation decisions, where the Workers' Compensation Regulator is the respondent
- public service appeals and discrimination matters within its jurisdiction
The President of the Commission is also President of the Industrial Court of Queensland. Appeals on errors of law or jurisdiction from the Commission go to the Industrial Court, and the Court sits in scheduled sitting weeks published by the registry through the year.
How to read the QIRC hearing list
The daily list is headed Industrial Court of Queensland, Queensland Industrial Relations Commission and Queensland Industrial Registrar, with the date. Matters are grouped first by body, then by the member hearing them: a Full Bench, the Vice President, a Deputy President or a named Commissioner. Each row then gives:
- Room and time, for example 10:00 AM in Hearing Room 22.01 or Conference Room 21.06. The first two digits of the room number are the floor of Central Plaza 2.
- Matter number, a letter code with the year and number, such as WC/2026/17. WC matters are workers' compensation appeals.
- Nature of listing, such as Hearing, Conference, Mention, Telephone Conference, Telephone Mention or Video Conference.
- Matter details, the parties, usually written as Surname, Given names v Employer. On this page given names are shortened to initials.
A large share of listings are conferences held by phone or video, so a matter on the list does not always mean anyone will be in a room at Eagle Street. Hearings are the listings most likely to be open for the public to sit in.
When the list is published
The daily hearing list for the next business day is put up by 5:00pm. The registry also issues a weekly list on Fridays. Any matter that has been made subject to a non-publication order should not appear, and the Commission reminds readers that the onus stays on anyone using the list to respect such orders.

Can I watch a QIRC hearing?
Hearings are generally open to the public. Conciliation conferences are usually held in private, and telephone and video listings take place remotely.
